The aim of this program is to encourage researchers in multidisciplinary areas, as individuals or within groups, to integration of approaches and/or technologies from various seemingly ´distant´ disciplines. This integration is expected to be innovative and promising.
Cooperation can be within or between institutions.
This program is part of a joint venture of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor, and the Planning and Budget committee of the Israel Council of Higher Education, intended to support research and equipment grants, by which innovative, wide scope multidisciplinary research will expand. The research areas cooperating might be from the exact sciences, engineering, material sciences, life sciences and medicine. There is a possibility to cooperate with the social sciences and humanities as well.

The equipment grants should be submitted as a separate proposal within the program, with or without a research proposal. The latter is appropriate for a situation in which the research group has been established and is actually engaged in its interdisciplinary research.
Two tracks of proposals can be submitted:
For grants up to a total of 750,000$. This can include equipment which is run by the institution, intending to serve a large number of researchers.
For innovative, new equipment, for the use of integrated research, up to a total of between 750,000$ - 1,500,000$. This can include equipment which is run by the institution, intending to serve a wide range of researchers.
The ISF´s decision will be based, among other criteria, on the necessity of the equipment on a national level. Approving such a proposal would be under condition that the equipment be made available for a wide range of scientists from universities as well as from the industry by the institution, which shall allocate time for such use. The institution may debit the users according to the fees customary for its researchers.

This program is not active.
